This really wasn’t your typical romance novel. It really is more of a character study of three very flawed people and their journey towards both love and redemption. It was very reminiscent of early Nora Roberts and Sandra Brown. I enjoyed both the story and the writing (and especially loved the turn that the story took…did not see it coming!). Looking forward to reading more from this author.
The cover of this book makes it seem like erotica, but it’s really not. It’s more psychological, with a little sex. It was different and I really enjoyed reading it. Looking forward to Suzanne Smith’s next book!
Don’t usually read romance but I’m kinda glad I read this one. It was different. Both the main characters are screwed up big time, specially the dude Marco who has a real anger problem. I didn’t think there was any way these two would get their happy ending but they did. I liked it.
A dark moving take on how two people can make each other’s life a heavenly hell. I’m looking forward to Ms. Smith’s next novel.
When I started The Brute and I, I expected a Beauty and the Beast kind of story, I guess because of the title. What I didn't expect was a tale of hope, forgiveness, love, and redemption, but that's what I found. Well written and well developed, the story of Marco and Alex shows the way back for a love that lasts.
