Intelligent and well-written, Sacred Puppies pulls the reader through time from the Dark Ages to present day, painting scene after scene of history, battle, love, and action. Vampires and Werewolves come to life in this novel, presenting us with their very humanity -- their hates, loves, desires, their innermost thoughts and feelings. These characters are not so very different from us, and throughout this book we find the lengths one Werewolf is willing to go to in order to protect his family and in doing so, we are forced to ask ourselves the question...would we kill to protect the ones we love? How far would we go to keep our families safe?

Sacred Puppies is the rare novel that, while steeped in fantasy, recognizes the most basic of human emotion and desire and builds an immediate connection between characters and reader. This is no sparkly vampire novel...this book is nitty gritty, pain and heartbreak, love and hope, vicious death and precious new life. I would definitely recommend this book as money well spent.
